Racing towards climate neutrality

The location couldn’t have been better: At the racecourse of the National Riding Institute in the Swiss Avenches, sales representatives from Nestlé Suisse SA were presented with their new company cars – 126 of a total of 171 Škoda Enyaq.

The switch to the all-electric model is a part of the food company’s ambitious climate timetable, which stipulates a rapid reduction of emissions. “Nestlé has a climate protection plan that aims to halve CO₂ emissions by 2030 and achieve net zero emissions by 2050. One of the measures is the electrification of the vehicle fleet,” explains Cédric Diserens, Director of Fleet & Used Car of the Swiss Škoda importer, AMAG Import AG.

As of the end of September 2023, the vehicle fleet of Nestlé Suisse SA now comprises 171 Škoda Enyaqs. Most of the sales representatives of the company are using the new, all-electric company car. Each of these vehicles will drive around 30,000 kilometres a year on the roads of Switzerland for the next four years, without any CO₂ emissions. The electric SUV from the Czech car manufacturer was nominated for the “favourite car of the Swiss people” in 2022.

“This is a wonderful example for the successful collaboration of all parties – international fleet customer Nestlé, local importer AMAG and the GFI have worked with trust and hand in hand to achieve something great.”

Tim Frellstedt
Key Account Manager, Volkswagen Group Fleet International

At the vehicle handover at the racecourse of the National Riding Institute in Avenches, the drivers were trained on various sustainability topics. Eugenio Simioni, Generaldirektor from Nestlé Schweiz, explains: “The Nestlé Group’s climate action plan encompasses the company’s entire value chain, from the upstream procurement of agricultural raw materials, to production and transport, to downstream packaging recycling. The switch to a new fleet of 100-percent electric cars is just one of the many measures we are taking to decarbonise all our activities.”

The fleet transition is remarkable in many ways: For one thing, it involves one of the most extensive deliveries of all-electric company cars in Switzerland. And for our Group brand Škoda, it is one of the largest all-electric deliveries in Europe to date. The parties involved in this special fleet business were brought together by Volkswagen Group Fleet International (GFI), whose Key Account Manager Tim Frellstedt set the course. He emphasises: “This is a wonderful example for the successful collaboration of all parties – international fleet customer Nestlé, local importer AMAG and the GFI have worked with trust and hand in hand to achieve something great.”

“The following requirements were the determining factor for the vehicles: Reliability, comfort, extensive standard equipment, a large range and generous interior space. With the the Škoda Enyaq, these requirements are met completely.”
