Fleet Models  |  The new Transporter

Ready for your mission

With the new generation of the Transporter, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is getting to the heart of its strategy: the right Bulli for every application.

The portfolio of the series is correspondingly broad. In addition to the new Transporter, which can be configured in the estate, panel van and platform van variants as well as in numerous equipment lines, the nine-seater Caravelle is also available for passenger transport. These are joined by the Multivan, which is recommended as a user-chooser model and is also available as the newly designed California motorhome, as well as the ID. Buzz.

Workplace for mobile professionals

The main focus of the new van is of course on professional use, which can cover countless application profiles thanks to a wide range of models and equipment. Inside, the van features an optimised workplace with numerous new features – but one that feels very familiar.

Every move is perfect

Ultimately, development was focussed on maximising the usability of the interior. “Our new Transporter has a visually consistent cockpit landscape,” explains Albert Kirzinger, Chief Designer at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. “We have deliberately combined the wide range of digital functions with handy hard keys. Because the Transporter is a tool, a vehicle for professionals. Every move has to be right. And that only works if form and function are in perfect harmony as outlined.“

Every detail is right

The new Transporter is started using the start button of the “Keyless Start” system next to the 12-inch digital instruments and the 13-inch infotainment display. Located directly below on a handlebar: the steering column selector lever for the automatic transmission, which is standard or optional depending on the drive system. The new position of the automatic selector lever provides extra knee room. As before, the gear lever for the manual gearboxes is located in the centre console. The standard multifunction steering wheel is equipped with clearly organised buttons.

The volume of the infotainment system is controlled via the steering wheel or a classic rotary knob. The handbrake lever has been abolished; it is now located in the centre of the dashboard as a switch for the parking brake. This creates space in the footwell. Easily accessible: large cup holders in the centre console in front (depending on equipment). There are additional cup holders and practical storage compartments for all kinds of utensils in the upper section of the dashboard. Albert Kirzinger: “We really used every nook and cranny to maximise functionality. The result is a stylistically clear and ergonomically perfect workstation. The high dash panel and the naturally high seating position provide the typical van feeling on board.“

Every tool fits

Depending on the wheelbase and roof version, the new van offers a load compartment measuring between 5.8 m³ and 9.0 m³ as well as space for up to three Euro pallets. In addition, the ultra-modern commercial vehicle supplies the electrical equipment of all tradespeople, service providers, courier drivers and emergency services via various interfaces. The electrical interfaces include not only USB-A, USB-C and 12V sockets, but also optional connection options for 230V devices. In the diesel versions, the 230 V socket (400 W) is always located on the driver’s seat frame. The Transporter with electric or plug-in hybrid drive also has two additional sockets in the area of the D-pillars on request; all three 230 V interfaces provide a total output of 2,300 W in this case. This means that there is a suitable power source on board the new van for almost every electrical device – from laptops to circular saws.

Conclusion: The perfect fit all round!
Better climb aboard right away.

The new Transporter can be ordered in many configurations.
